Chennai: After reporting a rise in the case of Covid-19 daily for four consecutive days, Tamil Nadu reported swimming in the case on Monday when reporting 1,556 new cases compared to 1,592 on Sunday.
However, at least 19 districts including thejavur, Tiruvarur, Tirupathur and Chennai reported an increase in new cases compared to Sundays.
The highest increase is in Thanjavur, where new cases rose to 104 out of 70 on Sundays.
Increase between one and seven cases in 18 remaining districts.
Coimbatore remains only a district to report more than 200 cases.
The western district has 206 new cases, but also sees the sharpest decline in everyday cases from 229 cases on Sunday.
After Coimbatore, Chennai (169) and Chengalpet (110) reported a high number of cases.
While Chennai saw a marginal increase of 165, Chengalpet saw a decline from 127.
Ramanathapuram (9), Tirunelveli (9), Virudhunagar (7) and Theni (3) reported cases in one digit, while 17 other districts have less than 25 cases.

18 Death on Monday took the death toll in the state to 35,036.
Of the 18 deaths, there were three each in Chennai and Thanjavur, each two in Chengalpet and Salem.
Each of the eight districts recorded one death.
At the end of the day, after the use of 1,564 people, the state has 16,256 active cases.
Special camps to vaccinate 20L people on Sunday: Meanwhile, Minister of Health MA Subramanian said Tamil Nadu would vaccinate 20 lakh people at 10,000 camps to be held on September 12 (Sunday).
It comes a day after the state receives a dose of vaccine 19.82 lakh from the center – the highest in a day since January.
“I will personally supervise this day from at least seven districts,” he said after inaugurating a vaccine camp at Meenakshi College of Engineering.
While the country has adequate facilities to carry out this camp, it also calls for school teachers and colleges throughout the state to volunteer by encouraging more people to vaccinate and support health workers on Sundays.
“They have become a pillar of support during the election and for implementing various beneficial schemes,” he said.
On average, the state has vaccinated almost 5 lakh people a day in August and the cumulative dose counts 3.5 crores, including 42 lakh in Chennai.
On Monday, the country was vaccinated by 5.2 lakh people compared to 3.6 lakh on Sunday.
This took the calculation of cumulative doses in government vaccination centers to 3.3 crore while more than 22.2 doses of lakh have been managed in a private hospital since May 1
