Chennai: New cases in Tamil Nadu dropped to 875 on Friday from 945 on Diwali’s day.
While three districts – Mayiladuthurai, Perambal and Ramanathapuram – reported no new cases, 28 reported no new death and 96% of the Covid ward in the country continued empty.
At the end of the day, after recording 13 deaths, the use of 1,012 patients, the state had 10,745 people on the active list.
After crowding in stores and malls to shop diwali, inter-country and intrastate trips, household theaters and family meetings – despite the weekly average pepititification level (the number of percentage of people tested positively to the number of people tested) below 1% – Public health experts warn that lack of masks and social distance and inadequate vaccination can push the case once more.
Statistics with the Directorate of Public Health show that around 10 districts in the state have more than 1% participation level.
Tiruppur filled the list with 1.5% of positively tested people, followed by Chengalpet (1.4%), namakkal (1.3%), salmon (1.3%) and coimbatore (1.3%).
While the level of prospitis floated around 1% in Trichy and 0.6% in Chennai, it was 0.4% in Madurai.
On Friday only four districts reported a marginal increase in cases compared to their Thursday counting.
The sharpest increase was reported by Virudhunagar where cases rose by nine on Friday from four on Thursday.
During the same period, Thirupathur, Tenkasi and Ariyalur also reported an increase.
All 34 districts report a decline in cases.
“With the vaccination of new cases it also drops,” said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
On Friday, after checking construction work at the cancer hospital in Kancheepuram, he said, the Ministry of Health has decided to postpone the Mega Vaccination camp scheduled for Saturday to 14 November.
“Some health workers want to spend a weekend with their families too because there is also fewer people in the clinic during a lively weekend.
We also heard there might be heavy rain in some districts,” he said.
Over the past few weeks, the average daily vaccination was drastically dipped.
While only 2,213 people took vaccines on Diwali Day, 33,733 took a vaccine on Friday.
The average daily vaccination in the state has dropped to less than Lakh in November.
In September, the state had an average of 4.8 lakh vaccination a day, which fell to 3.6 lakh in October.
To encourage more people, the country has offered door vaccinations to the door, subramaniam said.
During the weekend, health officials will visit houses in Besant Nagar and surrounding areas for door-to-door vaccinations.
“We still have 1.6 crore people who have not taken the first dose of vaccines.
The gap is broader among senior citizens where only 48% of them have taken the first dose,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
To worsen the situation, many people move without masks and do not follow social distance norms.
Organizations such as those who have warned that only the appropriate behavior of Covid will determine what is in front of 2022.
