Chennai: The Covid-19 case actively under 10,000 Mark to 9,890 cases on Friday, when Tamil Nadu reported 812 new cases – a marginal decline compared to 820 cases on Thursday.
The country issued 927 patients from the Covid registry and reported eight deaths pushing cumulative victims to 36, 259 active cases.
Data from the country’s registry showed 17 districts with marginal increase in new cases even when two districts reported no new cases.
Thirty-two of thirty eight districts reported zero death.
Nearly 208 days ago, on March 24, there were 9,746 active cases in Tamil Nadu, but with a quick increase in everyday cases during the second wave, the number of active cases rose to 3,3lakh in a health care system.
On Friday, the active case was the highest in Chennai (1,205) and Coimbatore (1,134) and the lowest in Themia (21).
“There has been a gradual decline in active cases now.
But we still haven’t won the battle against viral infections,” said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
“We must cover all our adult populations with at least two vaccine doses to prevent a surge,” he said.
On Sundays, the state will regulate the eighth edition of the mega vaccination camp at 50,000 places.
The state has a stock of at least 69 doses of the lakh vaccine.
“We have covered 72% of the population of adults with the first dose and almost 33% of them with the second dose.
At least 70 lakh people will be the second dose,” he said.
While health workers have visited houses to encourage vaccinations, people must volunteer to visit vaccination camps, he said.
On Friday, this effort encouraged daily vaccination to 3.4 lakh taking the calculation of doses to 5.8 crores.
Of the eight deaths, there are two of each of the Tiruppur and Trichy and each of the coimbatore, Chengalpet, Namakkal and Thakhur.
