Chennai: Tamil Nadu added 1,661 new cases on Monday, against 1,697 cases registered on Sunday.
However, active cases rose to 16,984 compared to 16,969 on Sundays.
In the past two weeks, the active case in TN rose 728 cases from 16,258 on September 6, when there were 1,556 new cases.
The Ministry of Health has asked all districts to continue the targeted supervision and testing.
The newly reported clusters from schools, family events, celebrations and funerals have pushed cases in Chennai, Thanjavur, Erode and Chengalpet.
On Monday, Chennai (206) and Coimbatore (211) were only two districts with more than 200 cases each.
The sharpest increase in active cases in the last two weeks was in Chennai, which rose from 1,772 on September 6 to 2,043 on Monday.
Erode and Chengalpet, who continue to report cases in three digits, have 1,405 and 1,252 active patients.
“We see a slow increase in several districts but if we do not have it soon the case will grow geometric and then exponentially,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
Weekly average front level – the number of people tested positive for the total number of people tested – up from 1.8% at 9 to 2.4%, 10 days later.
In TN, the level of participants increased to 1.1% from 1% during the same period.
At least 11 districts including coimbatore, tirupur and chengalpet have the level of participation above the country’s average.
Chennai has a 0.9% front minister.
“Investigations show violations of SOP including masks and social distance rules,” said Public Health Director Dr.
S Selvavinayagam.
This, officials said, were not completely unexpected.
“We hope that the fall to slow down when we loosen the limitations.
While we asked people to follow the Pandemic Protocol, health officials supervised fever and contacts,” he said.
On average, the state tests at least 1.5 lakh people every day.
23 deaths on Monday took the dead to 35,360.
The case touched 26.47 lakh.
Of the 23 deaths, Thanjavur reported five and Nagapattinam reported four.
There are two of each of the namakkal and Kalakurichi.
