CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government that on Friday announced the lockdown extension till June 21 also announced some travel relaxations.
The travel restrictions in place in 27 districts have been extended to eleven districts which have high Covid-19 cases.
The public will be allowed to travel in rented cars, taxis and in auto rickshaws after e-registration.
The eleven districts are Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai.
The government has allowed movement of private security service staff and housekeeping staff in apartment complexes after e-registration.
Electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other skilled technicians too will be allowed movement from 9 am to 5 pm, provided they have availed e-registration.
In rented cars, three passengers other than the driver and in auto rickshaws, two passengers other than the driver are allowed.
Those wanting to visit places such as the Nilgiris, Kodaikkanal, Yercaud, Yelagiri, Courtallam for emergency purposes will have to avail e-pass from the concerned district collector.
In 11 districts export companies are allowed to function with 25 % workforce.
In 27 other districts, the government has allowed 50% workforce in export units and vendor units and 33 % in manufacturing units.
Workers who were earlier allowed to travel in the company’s four wheeler vehicles can now use their two-wheelers for commute after e-registration.
