Chennai: Minister of Water Resources S Duraimurugan on Saturday said the Department of Water Resources Tamil Nadu had regulated water content in Mullaseriyar Dam according to the monthly storage approved by the Central Air Commission and ordered by the Supreme Court.
In a statement, the minister said there seemed to be some motives behind some of the wrong media houses reported about the operation of the dam, which must be avoided for the benefit of the two countries.
“There is no doubt about the determination of the country to store water in Mullaseriyar Dam at 142 legs permitted from November 30, depending on the flow of the dam,” Minister said.
The water level reaches 138.85 feet at 8 am on Saturday, with a 3,404 cusec entry flow (cubic feet per second), a 2,340 cusec image through the tunnel to the Vaigai Dam and the 875 Cusec release through Pillhways.
Duraimurugan said the department of water resources from the Madurai zone decided to raise the window leaves Mullaseriyar dam considering the increase in the level of storage and the Tamil Nadu engineers raised two window leaves on Friday morning to release 500 cusecs.
Officials concerned in Kerala are intimidated in advance according to standard operating procedures.
The Minister and Official Kerala present when the window leaves are raised.
Mullasiyar Dam is owned, operated, and managed by the Tamil Nadu government through an agreement in 1886 between the province of Madras and the State of Travancore.
“The period of the lease agreement is for 999 years.
The Rating of the Supreme Court in May 2014 also upholds that the rental agreement binds both countries.
There is no doubt about the dam under the control of Tamil Nadu,” Duraimurugan said, accusing certain media homes to give the impression It was wrong that the dam was under the control of Kerala’s government.
Considering rainfall in the dam area, biting water to Vaigai Dam and the rainy season, all the necessary actions are taken to store water at the maximum level of 142 FTEE according to the command of the Supreme Court.
In a petition from an individual from Kerala, the court ordered on Thursday to monitor the storage specified every month, the senior minister said.
