Tamil Nadu: Excavation of Keeladi to restart in February

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu government has provided a nod to the eighth phase of excavation in Keeladi, excavated in six other places, and moved to identify ancient Korgai Port.
Excavations will begin in the first week of February and leave in September, where the allocation of RS 5 Crore funds has been made.
In a statement, Minister M K Stalin said that if the Tamil and Tamil cultural seats will be confirmed, detailed excavation is needed.
The excavation was recently in Keeladi, Alagankulam, Korkai, Sivagalai, Adhichanallur, Kodumaral, Mayilah and Gangaikonda Cholapuram, have reaffirmed the Tamil seat.
Keeladi continues to win as forerunner for all other excavations today.
This has proven the theory that Tamil Nadu does not have a rich-urban river basis such as civilization of Indus valley originating from the 6th century BC, and Brahmi’s script comes from Mauryan.

Therefore, it has been planned to extract throughout Tamil Nadu to find pre-historical and early historical areas in the state.
As part of this, excavation has been planned in Keeladi and the villages of Garaja Kariak, Manalur and Konthagai, in the eighth phase.
