Tamil Nadu: Fall in the case of fresh Covid-19 slowed, 15 districts reported a slight increase

Chennai: Tamil Nadu is closer to the second wave base, but officials and epidemiology are now worried because the decline in fresh cases has slowed, almost defeating the epidemic curve throughout the state.
New cases in several districts are stagnant or show a marginal increase that makes the tail wave look thick, say public health experts.
On Thursday, Tamil Nadu reported 4,481 new cases compared to 4,506 on Wednesday.
Fresh cases in all districts fell below 500 after Coimbatore reported 498 and Erode 411.
All other districts reported less than 300 cases and at least 23 districts reported a case in two digits.
However, 15 districts reported an increase – between one and 51 new cases – in the last 24 hours.
Thanjavur reported 248 new cases – 51 cases more than on Wednesday.
The district saw a steady decline of 305 cases on June 26, 197 cases on Wednesday.
Of the 102 deaths reported in the state, Thanjavur recorded 23 – the highest.
Madurai, who had seen the same decline in cases from 112 to 68 for the same period of time reported 94 new cases on Thursday, when the district reported one death.
The state has asked the district to investigate clusters or regions that still contribute to new cases.
“While the adjacent Kebala and Maharashtra shows an increase in cases, we cannot delay the detention of focus diseases,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
Some districts such as Tiruvannamalai, Kalakurichi, PERAMBAL, Villupuram, Nilgiris, Sivaganga and Tirupathur have shown a marginal increase over the past two days.
Among other cities, Chennai reported 249 new cases and four deaths on Thursday, followed by Trichy who had 198 cases and four deaths.
Epidemiologists have recommended testing focus and intensive because the effects of relaxation tend to show only after a few days.
“We now need an effective workplace intervention strategy.
Testing, filtering and clustersmall or large identification – must be carefully done at work, places of worship, bus stops and markets,” said Deputy Institute for Epidemiology Institutions Dr.
Prabhdeep Kaur.
“The state can take advantage of antigen testing to increase speed,” he said.
More than anything, the state must ensure people follow the Pandemic protocol even when the state continues to offer relaxation of locking.
“The level of participants has fallen and has a case.
Maybe there is no reason for the country to keep the district under the lock.
But it also means that people have to wear masks and maintain social distance,” said Senior Virology Dr.
T Jacob John.
