VIRUDHUNAGAR: R Prabakaran, 35, the owner of a illegal cracker unit at a home at Thayilpatti village nearby Sattur in which a burst claimed three lives Monday, along with his younger brother Apollo, 31, were arrested on Tuesday.
They had been picked up by a relative’s home late on Monday night and remanded in judicial custody Tuesday.
Apollo’s spouse Selvamani and year-old son Ragubiya Salmon one of those who perished in the crash.
Officials in the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) who visited the collision site called it an illegal device as it had been worked without consent.
“It had been unfit for obtaining approval because of its place (a home ) and dangerous circumstances under which it had been working,” joint main control of explosives, by PESO Sivakasi, K Sundaresan told TOI.
It wasn’t only dangerous for individuals at work but also set the life of many others in the area at stake.
The official discovered the explosion also damaged neighbouring homes and hurt a couple of.
An 80-year-old girl residing in the area suffered a headache for a rock from the explosion hit her.
“In the event of a PESO accredited manufacturing device, we assess for offenses and suspend their license till it’s rectified.

Nitin Goel and Amit Goel, deputy controls of explosives in PESO, accumulated compound samples along with leftover firework in the scene to determine whether any illegal and toxic substances like chloride were utilized at the creation.
The samples will be sent for lab analysis.
