Tamil Nadu: Four Medical College Inspections

Chennai: The National Medical Commission has completed virtual inspections for the approval of seats in the four medical colleges proposed, said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
In addition, the Directorate of Medical Education has submitted a Compliance Report to increase seats from 100 to 150 in four other new medical colleges.
If the Commission gives its nod, the state will increase at least 600 MBBS seats other than 850 additional seats approved for acceptance in the current academic year.
“We have been told the inspection committee is satisfied with our compliance.
I will visit Delhi with senior officials on Wednesday.
We will ask the center to give us permission to admit to students to all new academic years from the current academic year,” Subramanian said.
In addition, the state has urged the center to allow government medical colleges in Coimbatore to increase seats from 150 to 200.
