Tamil Nadu Government Bat for Caste Census

Chennai: The DMK government on Wednesday joined Chorus for the caste census with a national census to meet the old demand from various communities.
It also increases to amendment to the constitution to provide reservations in the private sector against the background of many privatized public sector companies.
The policy notes submitted by classes back and most of the upside class welfare classes said the government was committed to implementing and protecting the quota of 69% in educational institutions and appointments for services that were followed in the state.
“Our main minister has demanded the Caste Census.
The state government will urge the Government Government to take the census of the complete caste together with the national census,” said Minister of Welfare for the Sivaskar backward class.
The founder of PMK Ramadoss, who has been steadfast in obtaining the caste-wise census, has recently urged the Chief of the Constitutional Court of MK Stalin to take delegates from all parties to New Delhi, similar to his Bihar partner, to ask for Caste-Wise census.
The government’s sources said the process was to revive the commission founded by the previous AIDMK regime for data collection which can be measured on caste, community and tribal – either by means of recovery or renewal.
The EPS government appointed justice (retirees) of Kudakekan as the chairman of the Commission in December to submit a report in six months, after the pressure given by its allies, PMK, and the period formed in June.
The Backward State class commission recommends the caste-wise census a few years ago.
“The DMK government supports reference provisions provided to the Commission, including the right steps to identify the number of caste and tribes, migrants domiciled in the country,” said a source.
The last caste census was conducted in 1931, and even the 2011 Socio-Economy and Caste Census data carried out by the union government had not been released until now.
While the commission is mandated to collect data that can be measured for each of the identified casts and tribes, Sivasanankar said the previous regime did not make efforts to provide basic staff and facilities to commissions and reports also did not come out.
The minister said that employment opportunities increased in the private sector and the government also provided incentives such as tax concessions to encourage growth.
“It is felt that reservations in the private sector are very important.
Ordering purposes in the private sector can be realized only by bringing amendments that are in accordance with the constitution,” he said.
The state government will urge the center to bring amendments to empower the state to improve the quantum of reservations, based on their needs, and will also impress it to apply a 27% quota for OBC in all central education institutions, he said.
