Tamil Nadu Govt Launches the RS 3,200 Crore Road Scheme

Chennai: In the massive recovery of road networks in the district, the state government on Friday announced “Minister of Road Improvement Scheme” to expand the road connecting the Taluk Headquarters and District Headquarters in the next ten years.
The government will spend ₹ 3,200 crore at this fiscal to expand the road to two lanes and four LANES to facilitate free traffic movements.
About 2,000 Km Jalan Panchayat / Panchayat Union will be upgraded to ‘other district roads’.
It has been decided to increase 2,200 km of the fourth state highway and 6,700 km to Twolane based on high traffic density.
“In the first phase, a 250 km long network will widen to four lines with a fee of ₹ 2,000 crores and 600 km to two lanes with an ₹ 1,200 crore.
This will reduce traffic congestion and ensure unbroken and safe transportation,” said Minister Highways EV Velu.
The policy record submitted in assembly describes the government’s long-term vision for the next 10 years, including an increase in all state highways with high traffic density to four pathways, and raises highways in the most dense areas in cities.
All row-rate crossings on the state highway and the main district road will get rails on the bridge.
Velu said the state highway would be extended to four lanes in urban areas with a cost of ₹ 400 crores, 10% of which will be available from a comprehensive road infrastructure development program.
It has also been decided to replace 648 Causeways to a high-level bridge with a cost of ₹ 609.71 Crore.
New bypass will be built in Sivaganga, Parthibanur, Kamudhi, Thiruthuraipondi, Ambasamudram, Bhavani, Aruppukkottai (West) and utiramerur, where the acquisition of land has been completed by the Highways Department.
Kota Karur will get bypass and link road.
In the first, Madurai will get a vegetable subway Crore ₹ 200 on the Ring Road to facilitate the runway extension at the airport.
Detailed project reports will be prepared to build increased highways connecting the Post Office and Roundtana Court, and Odathurai Bridge and Mallatchipuram in Trichy, and Nelpettai to Avaniapam in Madurai to reduce travel time to the airport.
There are plans to build a bridge at the intersection of Viraganur and Aruppukottai in Madurai, and close to the new bus holder in Tirunelveli.
“The government will also take road safety steps at a cost of ₹ 350 crore to reduce accidents and prevent death,” Velu said.
The highways department will put concrete streets around Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai with a cost of ₹ 15 Crore.
