Coimbatore: The state government will build 960 houses for the owner of the Sarane Housing Unit apartment through a joint venture with a builder, said Minister of Residence S said Muthusamy.
After the meeting with the owner of the Santanallur residential board in the city on Sunday, Muthusamy told reporters that new apartments would be wider, stronger than existing.
“The current housing unit does not have several facilities.
We have discussed providing more facilities in new housing units,” he said.
Muthusamy said 960 houses were built more than 35 years ago.
Over the years the building was broken, and the structure was very weak so the residents could no longer live there.
The owner of the housing unit has demanded the government to rebuild housing units.
Given the former Minister of DMK Pongaling and Palaniswamy and the former Saranlatur MLA N Karthik has raised this problem several times, Muthusamy said that when the MK Stalin minister’s chairman learned about the fate of the founder of the housing council, he directed the minister to resolve the problem.
“So, we have held a discussion with the owner and made a decision.
A 2 committee of members consisting of representatives from the apartment owner has been formed for this purpose.
All decisions relating to construction will only be taken after discussion with the committee,” he said.
However, Details such as the total area of the proposed housing unit, the area of each apartment and the number of floors in the building has not been done.
While the state government has proposed to spend around RS 90 Crore at first, the builder will invest part of the amount needed to build.
, the builder will be given a number of flats he can sell and recover the money invested.
