Chennai: Nolambur police have arrested a man who along with the other two deceptions as many as 100 car owners who promised a big return if their vehicle was given a rent.
The police have confiscated five cars from him.
Arunkumar, 29, Moulivakkam, exploited the struggle of taxi owners during locking and cheating them, police said.
Gowtham Raj who was accused by Moulivakkam and his partner Ansari from Saidapet was still running away.
Police said the trio offered to take vehicles on monthly rent up to 30,000 during locking and published ads.
Believe them, many taxi owners who struggle to surrender their vehicles to them and received a monthly amount for several months.
However, the rental stop coming soon and the trio still cannot be reached by telephone.
Their office in Mogappair also remained closed.
Based on complaints, Nolambur police registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspects.
Meanwhile, Arsunkumar surrendered at the Tambaram court on October 22 and the police took him to detention to be interrogated.
Based on the input, five cars were confiscated.
He was sent to Heyicial Remand again on Monday.
