Chennai: A man killed his daughter by slitting his throat in Villivakkam after he failed to answer the question asked to him about his mother on Saturday night.
The defendant, Radhakrishnan, 34 Villivakkam married Lavanya, 30, a nurse and couple had two children.
The couple has a love marriage, police said.
Radhakrishnan grew suspicious of his wife and suspected that he had an extra-marriage affair.
This causes frequent arguments and fight between couples.
Can’t stand this, he left him and began to live alone with his two children for the past three months.
The police said Radhakrishnan approached his wife for reconciliation but he refused.
On Saturday night, he left his children and went to the hospital for the night shift.
A few minutes after he left, Radhakrishnan came to meet him at his house, but found children alone.
He began asking inappropriate questions to his eight-year-old daughter, but the child did not understand.
He continued to force the girl to tell him if someone visited his mother’s house in his absence.
Because the child failed to react to all this, he went to the kitchen and took the knife and allegedly stabbed him on his shoulders and arms, police said.
Cannot bear the pain, the child starts crying hard.
Radhakrishnan asked him to remain silent but he was in pain.
With seconds, he slit his throat.
His neighbors rushed home after hearing the girl’s cry.
Paying attention to neighbors, Radhakrishnan made his escape.
Neighbors told Lavana about her daughter’s condition.
The girl rushed to the nearest government hospital where she was declared dead.
Radhakrishnan surrendered before Villavakkam police after recognizing the murder.
He told the police that he was not happy with his wife’s behavior in the past few days.
He was frustrated when the child failed to respond to his question.
“He was nervous to know whether someone visited a house because of his absence and the child could not give him a clue,” said an investigative officer.
The girl studied in class IV in a private school.
Radhakrishnan was ordered on charges of murder and had been returned in the custody of the judiciary.
