Chennai: A mechanic car drives two cellphone thieves after they seize the wallet from him near Arumbakkam on Wednesday night.
The police said he chased them for a good distance and ran against their bikes, making them fall, before raising the alarm for help.
A patrol van came to save him and two police officers arrested two criminals near Avadi.
Police said Sooriyan, 27, mechanics, driving a car near Thuhankuppam with a test drive when two men on a bicycle intercepted him.
They grabbed his cellphone and 2,000 cash from him.
They also threatened him not to raise the alarm.
However, Sooriyan followed them and hit their vehicle with his car in the distance.
He caught them and shouted to help when Kumarasamy’s sub-inspector came to save him.
He handed it to the Korattur police.
The duo was later identified as a baskar and akash of ayanavaram.
The police said that the duo ran out of money for liquor and took robbery.
