Chennai: Victims of accidents in Tamil Nadu, including those from states and other countries, will be offered health closure of up to 1 lakh for 81 life savings procedures needed in 48 hours of the first accident in 609 private hospitals empaneled, said the government on Thursday.
Scheme – nammai kakkum 48 (saving our lives in 48 hours) – will be offered to all victims of the accident on the road for a year.
This will be interspersed with CM health insurance schemes after the annual review.
“This procedure is not included in the state insurance scheme as it is now.
We will review expenditure for a year before we add this to the State Insurance scheme,” said a senior official.
Officials say the state will launch the scheme immediately and beneficiaries will include anyone without an insurance scheme.
The state has set aside Rs 50 Crore for the first phase of implantation ‘Inuyir Kappom Thittam’.
