Tuticorin: Electrics V Senthil Balaji said that the state needed 56,000 tons of coal every day to trigger a thermal power plant and that the state received 51,000 tons on Thursday.

“We get coal based on requirements,” he said and added that five units of 210 MW in Tuticorin thermal power plants need 16,000 tons of coal a day and have stock for four days.
He said the need to increase production in the main thermal power plant to bridge the increase in demand supply gap.
Balaji said that the plant had 83% productivity when DMK came to power in 2006-11.
It fell to 57% in 2016-21 and the country was in a situation where he had to increase production, he said.
The minister added that the cost of electricity production will drop only when production is 85%.
He also said that efforts to increase solar power production to 4,000 MW, project projects to increase production of 6,200 MW initiated by the DMK government from 2006 to 2011 and ignored by the Government of AIDMK in a row and reduce electricity waste and reduce electrical waste from At present 17.48%.
Talking about the differences in the deficiency of the coal being studied by the Committee, he said that the differences in notes and actual in Tuticorin were 71,000 tons.
