Chennai: All districts in the country saw a decline in fresh Covid-19 cases on Sundays when the state added 6,120 new cases compared to 7,524 reported on Saturday.
Twenty-six people died and 23,144 patients were dismissed from the country’s registry.
At the end of the day, Tamil Nadu has an active case of 1.2 lakh.
New cases in all districts fell below 1,000 as Chennai reported 972 new cases and coimbatore recorded 911, followed by 531 in Chengalpet.
All other districts reported less than 500 cases each.
The scrambler reported 13 cases – the lowest in the state – followed by Tenkasi (19), Kallakurichi (21) and Mayiladuthurai (22).
26 deaths took the cumulative Tallly Tall to 37,759.
While Chennai reported eight deaths and Chengalpet reported three.
There are two each in Coimbatore, Erode, Trichy and Kancheepuram.
Seven other districts – Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Thiruvannamalai.
Nagapattinam.
Tuticorin and Mayiladuthurai – each reported one death.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, 10,570 people over the age of 15 took vaccinations against Covid-19.
Calculation of cumulative doses for the first and second doses touching 9.3 crores.
More than 90% of people above 15 have taken the first dose and 70% have taken the second dose.
Vaccination coverage for prevention doses ranging from January 10 touched 4.35lakh.
