CHENNAI: Former chief minister and AIADMK co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami and PMK leader S Ramadoss on Saturday condemned Karnataka chief minister B Yediyurappa’s’unilateral’ statement that Mekedatu dam could be constructed after obtaining sanction in the Union authorities.
VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan along with DMDK pioneer Vijayakant encouraged the state government to convene an all-party assembly.
In an overview, Palaniswami remembered the gazetted arrangement of the Cauvery water disputes tribunal’s ultimate award in 2013 throughout the J Jayalalithaa plan and afterwards the last sequence of the Supreme Court about the petitions filed by Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala authorities in February 2018, that altered the feasibility to Tamil Nadu into 177.25tmcft per year.
“I recommend the Tamil Nadu authorities to guarantee the country get its due in Cauvery water.
It ought not provide distance to the attempts of the Karnataka government in Mekedatu and also protect the livelihood of their farmers of Tamil Nadu,” the prior CM said.
The preceding AIADMK government filed a request prior to the SC from 2018 to steer the Central Water Commission to get the permission given to Karnataka’s Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited, Bengaluru, to prepare a comprehensive project report.
In addition, it filed a contempt petition against the Central Water Commission project evaluation directorate, Karnataka water sources secretary and many others, that will be pending before the Supreme Court.
The allegation is that the CWC amused the feasibility report from this proposed dam ahead of this inter-state border.
PMK leader S Ramadoss said that the National Green Tribunal primary chair had just taken notice of these impending problems before the Supreme Court along with the Union authorities on Mekedatu dam program ahead of disposing suo motu event of its southern seat according to a TOI report which led in elections of a weapon to go to the dam website.
