Chennai: The fifth season T20 Tamil Nadu Premier League tournament will begin on July 19 because the state government has given its opening event.
All matches in the eight league team, including the final, will be played at M a Chidambaram Stadium here, Secretary of the Association of Cricket Tamil (TNCA), said Ramasaamy.
“The Tamil Nadu government was officially approved by the TNPL 2021 tournament on July 1 Submitting on no strict viewers and Covid Protocols.
After discussion with all stakeholders, it was decided to start the TNPL edition of 2021 from July 19 to August 15,” Ramasaamy was quoted as saying in Release on Wednesday.
The team is currently in quarantine in a city hotel and will start training on July 9, said Secretary TNCA.
“The team began their training on July 9 in Chepauk after extensive testing, quarantine and followed the rules of a tight bubble.
The BCCI anti-corruption team will be in place for tournaments for education and monitoring,” Ramasaamy added.
Some of the leading players of Tamil Nadu – R Ashwin, M S Washington Sundar, R Sai Kishore, Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier – will not be available for tournaments because they are busy with national commitment.
Experienced Stumper-Batsman Dinesh Karthik is far in the UK for the task of comments and also the possibility of missing the event.
India All-Rounder Vijay Shankar is one of the important names that will be seen in action.
The 2020 edition of TNPL is not owned due to Covid-19 and Kuncian pandemic.
T20 League featuring eight teams – Champions Survive Chepauk Super Gillies, Dindigul Dragons, Lyca Kovai Kings, Salem Spartan, Idream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Ruby Trichy Warriors, Nellai Royal Kings and Sechem Madurai Panthers.
All 32 matches, including the final, will be played at the Chidambaram MA Stadium here.
There will be seven double headers in the league phase, which will be held without rest.
The match will be broadcast by Star India on various channels including Tamil Star Sports.
