Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has increased reservations for women in government work from 30% to 40%.
Announced it in the State Assembly on Monday, the Minister of Finance and Human Resource Management Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said gender equality would play a major role in bringing change.
The government will bring the required amendments.
The government provides a horizontal reservation while filling in vacancies through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) and the Teacher’s Recruitment Council (TRB).
Replying to the debate about the request for the grant for the Human Resources Management Department, the minister said the government would give preference to orphans who had lost their parents in Covid-19 Pandemics, first generation graduates and Tamil Middle School students in government schools while filling vacancies at the Government Post.
“Because of the Pandemic Covid-19, the age limit for the recruitment exam will relax two years because the exam is delayed,” said Palanivel Thiaga Rajan.
