Chennai: New cases in Tamil Nadu down to 1,140 on Saturday compared to 1,152 have registered on Friday.
At the end of the day, after the country was dismissed 1,374 people from the Covid-19 registry, there were 13,280 people undergoing treatment for viral infections.
Seventeen deaths reported on Saturday took Tall in the state to 36.004.
Two districts – Chennai (141) and Coimbatore (132) – Continuing reporting cases in three digits, although these two districts reported a decline of the number of cases they reported on Friday.
Chennai reported 147 cases and Coimbatore reported 140 cases on Friday.
At least 14 districts in the state report increased cases compared to their tally.
The sharpest increase in new cases reported from Tirupur.
New cases in Tirupur rose to 81 on Saturday from 67 on Friday.
During the same period of time the case in Tiruvarur rose to 31 of the 20.
Lusin other districts reported between seven and one case more than Friday.
However, 26 districts reported less than 25 cases on Saturday, and among them nine districts reported cases in one digit.
Screens and Ramanathapuram reported one case, followed by tenkasi (2), Tirupathur (3) and four cases each in Ariyalur and Theni.
Of the 17 deaths, there were three of each of the coimbatore and signiyal, followed by two in Chengalpet.
Nine districts –Chennai, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Dharmapuri, Mayiladuthurai, Sivaganga, Kalakurichi and Ranipet – reported one of their respective deaths.
