Chennai: Covid-19 fresh cases fell to 1.580 on Monday compared to 1,608 on Sunday.
New cases have fallen for the second day in a row, after the cases of the Saw state rose for almost four days last week.
However, 20 districts including Cuddalore, Vellore, Tirupathur saw a marginal increase in new cases.
Despite reporting a drop, Coimbatore is the only district in the state to report more than 200 cases.
The western district reported 204 new cases compared to 212 on Sundays.
Chennai reported falling to 185 cases compared to 197 cases on Sunday.
Three other districts Erode (137), Thanjavur (109) and Chengalpet (105) reported cases in three digits.
“We see the ups and downs at least 15 districts every day.
This is because the new cluster emerges from a birthday party, gathering and funeral,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
Erode reported the steepest decline in cases from 160 on Sunday to 137 on Monday.
The sharpest increase in new cases reported from Cuddalore, where cases rose to 36 compared to 25 on Sundays.
VIUDHUNAGAR (9), Theni (7), Perambal (5), Ramanathapuram (5) and Tirunelveli (5) reported cases in one digit while 11 districts reported cases between 20 and 10 new cases.
22 deaths took the dead to 35,190.
Cases connect 26.35 lakh.
After the use of 1,509 people, there were 16,522 people on the registry of the active case.
Of the 22 deaths, there were six deaths in Chennai, four in Thanjavur, each in Chengalpattu, Tiruppur, Mayiladuthurai and Madurai.
While eroded, Kancheepuram, Vellore and Nagapattinam reported one death, 28 other districts reported zero death.
Meanwhile, 2.31 Lakh people took the vaccine on Monday taking a total dose for 3.82 crores in government vaccination centers.
The number of vaccinations in a private hospital since May 1 touched 23.06 lakh.
28 Lakh vaccination on Sunday, pushing the vaccination average in the last 13 days to 5.9 lakh a day.
