Chennai: Tamil Nadu on Thursday reported 1,562 new Covid-19 cases.
It’s a little higher than Wednesday’s number 1.509.
The count of infection has increased in 20 of 37 districts in the state.
Thanjavur witnessed the sharpest increase from 70 new cases on Wednesday to 110 now.
Western districts such as Coimbatore (215 new cases), Tirupur (90) and Salem (61) also pay attention to similar trends.
While cases fell in the Chennai District (166), more people were tested positively in the neighboring district of Chengalpattu (103) and Thiruvallur (76).
This increase can be associated with increased testing in TN.
From an average sample of 1.55 lakh per day this week, Labs here tested around 1.60 lakh samples on Thursday.
There is no big difference in the number of daily deaths.
For the second day in a row, 20 Covid patients died because Covid took the cumulative victim to 34,961 – the third highest in this country.
Also, 98% high TN recovery rate has helped drop the number of active cases.
At present, 16,478 patients undergo treatment.
It’s almost 20% less than the same day last month.
As far as vaccination, the state continues to report more than 5 lakh vaccinations per day.
So far, 3.1 Crore vaccination has been registered in TN.
About 40% of the adult population (aged 18+) has received at least one dose and 10% fully vaccinated.
