Chennai: Tamil Nadu recorded a marginal increase in fresh covid-19 infections for the second day in a row, adding 1,568 cases, including five returning from Kerala, pushing the overall cashier until 26.19 lakh.
The calculation of fatalities was installed up to 34,980, with 19 people surrendered to the virus, the Bulletin said the Ministry of Health.
After witnessing a downward trend over the past few weeks, the number of cases has gone up since Thursday.
Meanwhile, the recovery of glorifying new infections with 1,657 people out in the last 24 hours, aggregate up to 25,68,161, leaving 16,370 active cases.
A total of 1,60,742 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative number of specimens checked up to 4.27.93,906 to date.
Coimbatore, with 239 cases, Chennai 162, Erode 125 and Thanjavur 108, contributed most cases, while the rest were scattered in other districts.
Seven districts reported cases under two digits, while there were no new deaths in 25 districts.
Ramanathapuram and Virudhunagar recorded a few cases with three each.
Among the 19 fatalities, one person does not have an existing disease before, said the bulletin.

The Minister said Mandaviya was also asked to increase the nine-district vaccine supply which borders Kerala because the country has reported a high number of cases and added that all residents in this area will be inoculated.
Subramani said during the meeting with Mandiviya, a request was also made to establish aIims Medical College in Coimbatore, which he said he would consider.
Noting that the new primary health center has not been sanctioned to Tamil Nadu in the last three years, Subramanian said, “We reiterated our previous request that we needed 25 new phons in Tamil Nadu”.
For requests for several students and teachers in districts such as Ariyalur and Cuddalore who have been tested positive after school reopened on September 1, he said they might have contracted the previous virus.
“They will contract transmission early and then come to schools without knowing that.
They were identified because of the efforts of the Ministry of Health officials, who will now conduct an investigation,” he said.
The minister said there was no need for anyone to panic and the department took every effort to break the virus chain.
