Chennai: A total of 104 international passengers, who arrived at the airport throughout the state in the past two weeks, was tested positive for Covid-19.
Analysis of all samples in TN Labs suggested that there was a decrease in s-gene in 82 patients.
Their sample has been sent for genome sequencing.
Everything has mild and fine symptoms now, said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
From the sample, only one was found infected with the Omicron variant and he also recovered well, said Minister.
On Wednesday, as many as 604 people were found infected and eight surrendered to this disease.
Chennai once again reported most of the new cases (136) with a test level of 0.8 percent – a little higher than the average rate of 0.6 percent.
As far as vaccination, the government gave 1.5 lakh doses on Wednesday.
So, more than 84 percent have received their first dose in TN.
