Coimbatore: With the aim of entering students in the decision-making process, the school education department has sent internal communication to all district head education officers directing them to establish a student council in all schools.
This project will be formed with the help of teachers and members of several NGOs.
R Sudhan, Director of the State Project Samagra Siksha, said that the Board would be formed in all schools as part of reform in the School Management Committee (SMC).
Every school must have the School Management Committee (SMC) mandated under the Rights Law on Education (RTE), 2009, which should have parents and representatives of local bodies as members to enable interaction with teachers and officials of the Department of School Education for the school Meet the requirements of school and children.

The student council will be an additional component for SMC now.
