Chennai: Worried about the high number of cases reported under SC / SC (prevention of atrocities) of the law, the Tamil Nadu government performed as the state alertness and monitoring committee with the Head of Minister M K Stalin as chairman.
This will cover all 45 MLA of the constituency ordered in the state, regardless of party affiliates.
The 62 member committee was also represented by four ministers, including Palanivel Thiagarajan (Finance), N Kayalvizhi Selvaraj (Adi Dravidar Welfare), CV Ganesan (labor welfare) and M Mattiventhan (tourism) and nine MPs, including the leader of VCK Thirumavalavan and D Ravikumar , Former P Dhanapal Speaker, Leader Floor, K Selvaperuntesta (Congress), V P Nagai Mali (CPM), T Sadhan Thirumalaikumar (MDMK) is also a member of the Committee.
Only PMK and BJP do not have a representation on the committee.
The panel will review the implementation of the SC / ST provisions acting, assistance and rehabilitation of victims, prosecution, the role of officials / institutions, and various reports received by the state government.
While the committee’s mandate is to meet twice a year, the state-level committee only met four times since it was formed / dissolved in 1995 because cases of cruelty increased.
The state government stated that Madras High Court that “administrative reasons” prevented the meeting be held.
Tamil Nadu recorded 1,384 cases under SC / ST Act in 2017, 1,428 in 2018 and 1,175 in 2019, according to the national crime record bureau.
The state registered 56 children’s rape incidents (Section 4 and 6 of Act Pocso) under 18 years, and 90 incidents of riots in 2019.
Thirumavalavan said the massive committee reflected the government’s concern.
“Development must be inclusive, and the reason why the law is forwarded to cruelty growth.
It hasn’t dropped,” said the VCK leader.
