Chennai: The state government has initiated the process of making Covid-19 vaccination for people who visit public places.
In circular to several health officials on Thursday, Director of Public Health (DPH) asked Deputy Director of Health Services to notify the owners and invaders of these places to ensure all visitors had taken vaccines.
Public areas include roads, markets, theaters, other places of entertainment or assembly, school, college, playground, hotels, boarding houses, houses, clubs, factories and shops.
“The Public Health Law empowers the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine to make mandatory preventive vaccination and inoculation,” said DPH Dr.

MA Health Minister Subramanian said: “When people in public places, their vaccination certificates will be verified by the right authority from the place or building.
