Chennai: Tasmac wine shop across the country is expected to record 1,000 crore collective sales at five days starting in Eve this week.
The lamp festival fell on Thursday followed by a long weekend.
The official source with Tasmac said sales of 200 crores were expected to be diwali Eve, followed by 250 crores on the festival day.
Collective sales between November 3 and 7 will be around 1000 crores.
Last year, Tasmac generated 465 crore income on Diwali Eve and Festival.
“In 2020, revenue was subdued because of Covid-19.
But this year, Diwali was followed by an extended weekend and we expect large sales in the northern district including Vellore, Villupuram, and Tiruvannamalai and the southern part of the country,” Tasmac said officials.
In the related development, 272 bars attached to 284 liquor outlets will be reopened in Chennai on Monday, after the facility was closed for the past 6 months due to a pandemic.
The state-owned marketing company on Saturday extended the Agreement for the existing contractor running the bar attached to the Tasmac liquor outlet until December this year.
In communiques for Tasmac District Manager, the implementing director of L Subamanian said the TASMAC board has ratified all district managers to extend the agreement, only regarding the existing contractors, which have been given permission to sell goods and collect empty bottles in the area side by side with Tasmac Shops December 31 or until the date of completion of fresh tender, which is earlier.
District managers are directed at extending the agreement, he added.
According to official sources, the extension was in the light of the bar that was turned off for the past 6 months.
