Chennai: Terminus Bus Kancheepuram who witnessed a large number of passengers throughout the day and night, turned into the least safe zone for passengers, especially women at night.
In the last two days, the three incidents of capturing have reportedly left passengers panicked.
At 9:30 p.m.
on Monday, an unknown man grabbed a cellphone from the elderly couple, Srinivasan and Banu, while two other women lost their expensive cellphones on Sundays.
On Tuesday, a woman was released with 7,000 cash.
Passengers complained that anti-social elements lurked there because many stores remained closed and consumed liquor in addition to committing crimes.
Commuter says, the main bus holder, despite having lights, not an ideal place for women and it disturbs them for the most part.
The absence of a CCTV camera has been useful for criminals to run AFREE.
They said that more than half of the store had not started to function.
“Because many shops are closed, anti-social elements have taken space to consume alcohol in public,” said Prathiba, a commuter who took the bus from Terminus to Uthiramerur regularly.
“Except for two or three stores with CCTV cameras, there is no supervision provided by the police for safety.
We can see men openly consume liquor and create a commotion.
They attack the people who try to question them,” he said.
Even if the crime occurs, the police will be allowed to not understand the identity of the criminals, he added.
Gandhiya Makkal Iakkam President Bethraj District who recently filed a petition to the police highlighting problems that haunted the bus depot said that people were afraid even during the day.
“We have asked them to increase the police to keep the criminals at Bay, because it is one of the main bus stops,” Bethraj said.
