Tamil Nadu: ‘Walk-out not to protest an anti-caa attitude’

Chennai: Former Minister and Aiadmk WHIP S Velumani struggled to clarify that AIADMK members walked out “for different reasons” and that the party would protect minority rights.
He responded to the ruling party member asking AIDMK’s decision to come out when the TN Council issued a resolution against CAA.
Velumani said AIDMK walked out because the government failed to take action in the representation given by the party that a concrete ladder leading to the statue of CM J Jayalalitha in the Tamil Nadu State Council for the Higher Education Campus has been removed.
He reacted to DMK’s comments MLA Kovi Chezhiyan that when the house issued a historic resolution, “some members walked out”.
Participating in the debate, the minority minority Minister Gingee Mastan wondered if Aiadmk supported or opposed the resolution.
For Velumani this confirms that AIDMK will always protect the minority and say when the Masjid Babri was also destroyed, Aiadmk stood in between.
Mastan Gingee who was unrelenting and then wondered “who sent a rock to build a RAM temple on Ayodhya”.
When Velumani remained silent, the leader of the house, S Durai Murugan said the dismantling of the Babi Mosque was a sensitive problem and when such problems were submitted “uncomfortable questions will definitely be brought up” and suggest Velumani not to bring up the problem.
Meanwhile, resolution resolution against CAA has been welcomed by Congress, IUML and INL.
The parties appreciate the main minister M K Stalin for standing with his words and transferring the resolution in the State Assembly.
In a statement, the President of TNCC K S S Alagiri said the center through the law of CAA had maintained Indian Muslims in Tendahooks over the past two years.
Most opposition parties oppose the law.
However, Tamil Nadu President BJP K Annamalai, criticized the DMK government for providing a resolution against CAA and said that the Congress and Sekoll had taken the word ‘secularism’ to their extreme ‘political appeasement’.
“The resolution of ACT CAA is passed by @alivalalayam Govt in the MArst Assembly today.
This resolution speaks of actions that are not in accordance with our secular principles,” said tweeted, trying to explain “political drama” behind “secularism”.
