Chennai: Madras High Court has refused to disturb the Tamil spell at Tamil Nadu temples under ‘Anna Tamil Archanai Scheme’, rejecting the argument that the chastity of the temple will be destroyed if it is not sung in Sanskrit.
Citing a 2008 assessment of the Division bench, the first bench Head of Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice P D Audikesavalu said it was not in Agamas or other religious scripts to ban Tamil spells in temples.
It refused to accept the pilpetitioner, the opinion of Rangarajan Narashiman that the country changed the practices of Hindu religious institutions in temples.
