Gurgaon: Little Grebe, a small dive bird and resident in Lake Najafgarh, was found entangled in a fishing net and struggled to free himself on Monday.
In luck, a bird of Birders from the Delhi Society, visit the lake to watch birds, watching the small Grebe on fishing nets and saving him.
The bird was then released to its original habitat.
“The bird is fine now.
We feed after releasing it from the fishing net.
Then, it returns to its original habitat,” said Abhishek Gulshan, a birdder with the Delhi bird community.
Grebe is small trapped in a fishing net abandoned by locals who catch fish on the lake.
Net net use on the lake violates an advisor in Section 3 Prevention of cruelty on animal laws, 1960, for exotic and migratory bird species protection, according to the Department of Wildlife.
More than 5,000 migration birds have been seen on Lake Najafgarh this season.
Some fish eating birds, migrations and residents, perched in shade trees around the lake.
Grebe small caught in several fishing nets left by some hyacinth plants close to the lake and not noticed for a long time.
At first, the bird struggled to come out but then exhausted and almost resigned with his fate.
However, bird observers, noticed that Grebe had dived into the water in the last effort to exit.

“As long as one of our routine roads, one of the participants saw something moving near the strand of hyacinth plants on Lake Najafgarh.
We saw the bird and quickly received assistance from several locals to remove it from water.

He added that small Grebes were duck eating fish and lived on wetlands.
Birds visit the area often trapped in nylon fish nets while diving into water for fish.
Some of them were injured, and some even died.
Previously, the Department of Wildlife had warned local residents not to put fishing nets on the lake, but the exercises continued.
“We are aware that the lake is visited by birds that migrate in winter every year.
