Kanpur: Given the upcoming Mega Magh in Prayagraj, the district government has directed the pollution control board to close the tanneries and the factory located on the edge of the Ganges in Jajmau.
The Regional Office of the Pollution Control Board has written a letter to the Tannery association that asks them to close tanning for two-three days before different bath festivals so that the inclusion discharge cannot be produced in tanning.
Anil Mathur, Regional Control Board Pollution Officer regulates that the four-day list for tanning closure has been prepared after considering the main bathing festival.
Under it, three days before the bath festival, tanning will be closed and after the festival, Tanneries can continue their production.
District administration has formed an inspection committee led by district judges who will examine the site if there are reports submitted regarding violations of orders and take action against default tanning.
Cases can be registered and a fine can be charged on the order violation, said Mathur.
