Target 2025: infusion of life back to Yamuna

New Delhi: Determined to clean Yamuna before February 2025, the Delhi government has begun working on a warping to ensure that the river returns.
The various steps taken include increasing waste treatment capacity, the creation of monitoring and treatment of industrial waste and ensuring the processing of domestic waste before the water treated flows in Yamuna.
Four new waste treatment plants are being built – Okhhla facilities with a capacity of 124 million gallons per day, Pilar Coronation 70mgd site, Rithala 40MGDS and Condli Factory, 45MGDS.
19 existing STP is being upgraded to increase their care capacity.
The government also went for the treatment of in-situ from waste disposal in the Najafgarh channel, additional disposal, barapullah disposal and Shahdara channel.
“Flowing water is being cleaned in the sewer itself instead of being in STP,” explained a government official.
GreedView is the good news that the Delhi government began a plan that was bound to time to clean up polluted Yamuna.
But the truth is that a lot of money has been spent in the past to the end without much success.
Therefore, it is important that the plan must be carefully and regularly every quarter to ensure its efficacy.
Plants on holidays in 33 industrial groups are watching.
“In 17 industrial groups, waste water flows to 13 general waste treatment plants.
Waste water from locations that are not associated with a treatment plan will be tapped in the gutter line and sent to be cleaned,” the official said.
The government has directed the industry department to act against units that do not distribute their waste through the pipe going to the treatment plant.
“If they don’t put waste water in the treatment channel, the unit will be closed,” warns the government.
Industrial units that emit water to the exhaust can also be closed.
There are many manufacturers, such as plastic pellets, which dispose of waste to the gutter line.
Waste disposal that is not right in this way will also attract strict punishment, the government states.
The Community Toilet Complex in the JJ group across the capital is connected to Stormwater waterways and not to waste networks.
All wastewater in such groups flows into stormwater waterways too.
On Thursday, the Delhi government stated, “it has been decided that the smallest sewer coming out of the JJ cluster will be connected to the closest gutter line so that waste water can be treated at STP.
The target is to get a sewer for 1,799 unauthorized colonies in Delhi in 2024 .
“The plan also wants to prevent household toilet waste into the waste water sewer.
“East Delhi now has provisions to connect all households to waste networks.
However, there are many small and large garbage carrying channels, which are thrown into stormwater waterways.
After this, the water then flows into Yamuna through a larger channel,” Record government statements.
This dirty water flows down a large sewer spreading a foul odor in a vast area, creating a breeding place for flies and mosquitoes and polluting ground water before finally polluting Yamuna.
Delhi has a network of gutters that length 9,225 km, and Delhi has started the process to open everything.
“Waste water from households contains mud which continues to be built in the gutter line,” said a government official.
“If the pipe chokes anywhere along the length, dirty water flowing in it is blocked and overflowing into the road and once again it finally reaches the river through stormwater and waterways.
The target before the government in the next six months is to clean the gutter line from accumulated lanau.” Each area where the gutter line was found to be clogged from 10% to 50% it would be cleaned and folded.
After this, waste water is more likely to reach STPS for care, “said the government.
