Task Force, CCTVs to curb illegal dumping

Letter: The task force has been formed together by the police, the local industry and the Gujarat pollution control agency (GPCB) to prevent illegal waste disposal in the Sachin GIDC area.
This step has occurred after the incidence of tragic toxic gas leaks claiming six lives on January 6, the team will maintain a watch in 14 locations in the GIDC Sachin.
CCTV cameras will also be installed in these locations for 24-hour surveillance.
This team will have representatives from the local industry association, regional officials who are notified, police and GPCB.
Representatives of the four general effluent processing plants (CETP) operating at Sachin GIDC will also be part of the team.
They will be given a vehicle to keep watching in certain locations that are disturbed by the problem of waste disposal.
“The team will work as a task force that will monitor illegal dumping from waste chemicals in the area.
We tried to ensure that all of these illegal activities were stopped completely,” said Police Commissioner of Ajay City Tomar.
“A group of police and local industries have identified several Locations around the industrial area where waste was thrown away.
At this location, CCTV cameras will also be installed for hours monitoring, “added Tomar these locations are isolated and not many people visit it.
“A total of 14 locations were identified where illegal waste disposal was being carried out.” These locations will be borne by CCTV and monitoring will be carried out from the police station directly, “said Mahendra Ramoliya, an industrialist.
