CHENNAI: The Tasmac Employees Union affiliated to the AITUC has urged the Tamil Nadu government to conduct audit of stock before opening the liquor shops.
In a press release, state president of the union N Periyasamy said auditing of the stock available at Tasmac shops is required as there are allegations about liquor being illegally sold.
The shops have been remaining closed since May 10 due to lockdown.
The audit must check if the same volume of stock that was left over on May 10 is still available at each shop, the union said.
Tasmac shops will reopen in 27 districts in the state next week, as per the lockdown relaxations announced by the state government on Friday.
