Mumbai: Three months after their homes and fields were destroyed by Tauktae Typhoon, residents and farmers from the Palghar district received more than Rs 8 Crore in compensation on Sunday.
Typhoon has destroyed 4,975 houses and damaged fields from 3,525 farmers.
Losses caused by typhoons that made the land of Gujarat on May 17 were examined by the district administration.
Money has been stored in the bank account of the victims, said the Gursal District collector, on independence day.
Four shops, buffalo owners were killed in the cyclone and poultry traders had also been compensated.
