Tax Submission reflects the repaired portal bug: Government

New Delhi: After weeks of acting on infosys, vendors for the new tax portal, the government on Wednesday said that some technical problems on the wrong platform were “handled progressively” and this was reflected in the “positive” archiving trend.
So far, almost 1.2 Crore returns for the last financial year have been submitted, with more than 76.2 Lakh Taxpayers using a new online portal utility for this purpose, the Direct Tax Council said (CBDT).
Describing it as an encouraging trend, CBDT said that almost 95 refunds of Lakh income tax have been verified, with more than seven lakhs has been processed.
E-Verification Returns are pre-conditions for return processing.
The statement marks changes in the department’s tone to infosys, which has blamed the Indian Premier IT company for disruption to the platform.
Appeared a few days after RSS Funnya Panchekanya attacked Infosys to fund “anti-Indian forces” and messed up the portal.
RSS, however, keep away from the report.
In the midst of complaints from vocal tax professionals, Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman used the “summoning” CEO of Salil Parekh CEO twice and has now set a deadline of September 15 to create a glitch-free portal.
Even now, some taxpayers complain about their inability to enter or submit their return.
“The Ministry of Finance has regularly monitored the solution to the problem with Infosys, which is a managed service provider for the project …
it confirms that the department (income tax) continues to be involved with infosys to ensure a smooth archiving experience,” CBDT said.
It added that archiving increased to 3.2 lakh every day in September.
In addition, the taxpayer has been able to see more than 8.7 lakh notifications issued by the department under a faceless judgment, appeal or penalty process and more than 2.6lakh responses have been submitted so far.
“Average 8,285 notifications for the e-pro-proceeding process is issued and 5,889 response is being submitted in September 2021 every day,” said the tax department.
The numbers are also intended to signal to taxpayers that everything improves and they must continue submitting their return because the deadline is close to fast.
