Dibrugarh: Total Tea Production Assam witnessed plunge almost 8% last year compared to 2019 for the period January to November.
The production of state tea in 2020 was hit by Covid-19 locking, and therefore was not taken into account by the tea industry.
For the period January to November, the total tea production in 2021 was 641.23 million kg with 593.58 million kg in 2020 and 693.62 million kg in 2019.
Significantly, assam tea production for the whole year 2019 was 716.49 Million Kg, which is 51.54% of the total state production of 1,390.08 million kg.
In 2020, due to Covid locking, the total production of Tea Assam fell to 618.20 million kg, which was less than 100 million kg less than 2019.
The total state tea production was 1,257.53 million kg of that year.
