Teacher Anganwadi Underpaid Looking for Justice

Thiruvananthapuram: Udayakumari cs, a 63-year-old child who worked for 37 years as a Teacher Anganwadi in Muthukulam, Alappuzha, has traveled far away from there to the state capital to participate in a survival strike by the Federation of Indian National Anganwadi Employees (Intuc ) Here on Wednesday.
“I have taken care of so many children when I was working and now I retire and unable to take care of myself.
The government’s pension is not enough to support the family.
Service 37 years I taught me that Angkanwadi employees were never respected and paid low.
Many of us which is on the verge of suicide.
We do not have other options to survive, “said Udayakumari.
Anganwadi workers named the attack as a ‘survival strike’ because this was the only survival choice they had.
The strike is to let the government know about their misery.
The protest is to turn on the injustice.
More than 1,000 Angry Workers from all districts participated in the strike led by intuc which was performed in front of the Secretariat.
Protesters demand that workers must be given a minimum salary of RS 21,000 and that they must be considered a government employee.
The number of pensions must be increased to 5,000 Rs for Teachers and Rs 3,000 for aid workers, workloads must be reduced, temporary workers must be permanently made and must begin other welfare benefits and ESI.
At present, the salary provided for the Teacher Anganwadi is Rs 12,000 and the pension number is 2,500.
While Kudumbashree provided with wages to take surveys and other government related works, Anganwadi workers were forced to do all jobs without wages, they said.
“We were forced to work on all projects sponsored by the government and their wages were sad.
