Bhubaneswar: Member of the University Teachers Association, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) Bhubaneswar, on Saturday urged Vuat Vice-Chancellor to fulfill the Charter of their 18 points demands including reform in direct recruitment and career progress schemes (CAS).

When overcoming a press conference, the President of the Association of Sanjay Kumar Mohanty said that his institution followed the Guidelines for the University Grant (UGC) commission for direct recruitment and promotion (CAS) for Teachers / Scientists / Learning Materials (SMS) Krishi Vigyan Krish (KVS)), Professor, Professor , and Dean.

“The UGC guidelines are suitable for us and we are promoted in time.
But the ICAR guidelines are not until the sign in this case.
Scientists who work in KVK face difficulties to meet the ICAR criteria for CAS,” Mohanty said.
Pradeepta Kumar Sahoo, Secretary General of the Association, said they asked Vuat Vice-Chancellor to follow the UGC guidelines for the direct recruitment scheme and career progress instead of the ICAR / ASRB guidelines.
“All amendments made the ICAR guidelines since 2019 must be withdrawn,” he added.
Association members also demanded regularization of subject matter specialists and other officers posted on KVK under Ouat.
They also demanded the protection of payments and the benefits of CAS for KVK scientists who have joined the regular stream or in the KVK system.
Sahoo said the government must increase retirement age of up to 65 years according to Norma UGC.
“Many states have increased the retirement age of university employees to 65 years.
Now our retirement age is 60 years and we ask the government to see this problem,” he added.
Association members wore a black badge between November 1 and 12 which protested university’s sluggish attitudes towards their demands.
“If our demands are not fulfilled, we will hold Dharna in front of the VC office from Monday beyond office hours without inhibiting our work everyday,” Sahoo said.
