Teacher Spimmer from Mysuru Excel in Nat’l Meet

Mysuru: Two Women’s Master Swimming from the city makes a spark at the 17th National Masters Championship which was recently concluded in Mangaluru.
The competition was held for teacher swimmers aged between 53 and 82.
While Seetha Rao, 71, won five gold and one bronze medal, Dr.
Anya Saini, 58 years old, a pediatrician, won three bronze medals, 2 bronze, and one bronze.

In the male section, MNVV Swamy, 82, won three gold medals and one silver while Sundaram, 79 won the silver medal.
Seetha Rao, who was born and raised in Madikeri, learned to swim when he was eight years old.
“I learned early lessons swim on the lake of Omareshwara temple,” he said.
When he was 13 years old, his family shifted to Bengaluru.
BSC graduates from the Government Science College, he began competing in the Master’s swimming competition in 2000.
Until now he has won 232 medals in the state and national level tournaments and between them, 208 is a gold medal.
He is the most senior senior female swimmer in the current state and has trained more than 1,000 students in swimming.
He has participated in various international competitions including a prestigious world aquatics championship.
Anya Saini also began to swim when she was eight years old.
When he was pursuing MBBS at the Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute, he won a bronze medal at all Indian Inter-University championships in 1984.
He began participating in the teacher’s swimming championship in 2002 and has won more than 100 medals.
“Nostalgia to return to the pool,” said Dr.
Anya Saini who runs his clinic on the Vijayanagar II stage.
Now, Dr.
Anya Saini focuses more on its swimming activities than her profession.
“At present, I practice six days a week,” he said.
“Our appeal to the state government is that he must encourage the main swimming competition by expanding financial support to swimmers,” Seetha and Dr.
Anya Saina said.
