Teacher’s Day 2021: All You Need to Know About Sarvefalli Radhakrishnan

On September 5, India celebrates teacher’s day every year for students.
Today is celebrated to mark the birth alert of India’s first Vice President Dr.
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Dr.
Radhakrishnan was also the second president of India from 1962 to 1967.
The symbol of academics and education, Radhakrishnan is a famous philosopher, statesman and a teacher.
Dr.
Radhakrishnan was remembered because he was one of the 20th largest thinkers of the 20th century and to introduce Western philosophy to Indian society.

He was appointed as a professor of philosophy to the King of George V Chairperson of Mental and Moral Sciences at the Calcutta University (Cu).
The association with the University lasts around 12 years from 1921 to 1932.
During his tenure at the University, he represents Cu at the British Royal University Congress in June 1926 and at the Philosophy International Congress at Harvard University, USA in September 1926.
Dr.
Radhakrishnan was appointed as Professor of Spalding of East Religions and Ethics at Oxford University.
This position was specifically made by HN Spalding in 1936 because he was impressed after Radhakrishnan lectures in London, and was also fascinated by his personality.
Radhakrishnan was nominated 16 times for the Nobel Prize in literature, and 11 times for the Nobel Peace Prize.
He was very admired and respected by his disciples.
In 1921, when he was on his way to the MySore train station from the University of Mysore, his students had arranged a train decorated to bring him to the destination.
This train is withdrawn by students themselves.
During his tenure as vice president, Radhakrishnan was responsible for the Sayshi Session Session (House).
Every time a heated conversation occurs during a session, Radhakrishnan will quote Slokas from the Sanskrit classic or quote from the Bible to calm anxious audience.
Leading the Indian delegation to the UN Education, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO), Dr.
Radhakrishnan was elected as Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board in 1948.
Dr.
Radhakrishnan taught at various universities – from Mysore University to the University of Calcutta.
He died on April 16, 1975 in Chennai.
