Dehradun: In 1989, following the ad in a newspaper, then Gerald John, who was 24-year-old registered for the position of Trade Teacher at CNI Boys’ Inter College, a government-assisted minority education institute in Dehradun.
However, despite cleaning interviews and topping an achievement list, he did not get the job.
In 1990, Residen Farrukhabad moved Allahabad HC.
After Uttarakhand was carved in 2000, this case was transferred to HC in Nainital.
When he was 55 years old, Uttarakhand HC benefited it in December 2020 – ordered it to be appointed at school and the release of Rs 80 Lakh as compensation.
From this, John was paid Rs 73 lakh by the Uttarakhand government a few months ago but the remaining 7 lakh Rs, which must be paid by the government, is still due.
Being a senior teacher-mostly, John is also an acting principal at school now.
Remembering the length of his length, he told the Toi that he was quite surprised when he cleaned the interview and added to the reward list, he did not get the job.
“When I asked the authorities why I was rejected, I was told that the candidates needed to have selected stenography skills.
Stenography is not mentioned as one of the criteria needed in the job list.
I suspect that the candidate who gets the job is united with the authorities.
Then I took material to court.
“In 2007, one bench from Uttarakhand HC ruled against John.
He challenged the verdict at the Supreme Court.
Former Minister and lawyer Salman Khurshid took his case and against him for free.
“He saw it as an original case and stayed at SC from 2007 to 2010.
The court said the case had services and asked us to beg in front of a double bench from HC,” he said.

Ten years after the case moved back to Uttarakhand HC, a double bench that was ruled in the pleasure of John in December 2020.
In January, he was appointed as a trade teacher for grade 11 and 12 at CNI Boys’ Inter College.
In April, after the principal retired, he also made the principal.
