Gurgaon: The Ministry of Health on Wednesday formed 10 multi-disciplinary teams, which consisted of doctors and officials, to assess the status of beds all private hospitals who treated Covid-19 patients in the city.
At present, Gurgaon has 4,894 beds, which includes a 691 ICU bed and 328 ventilator beds.
There are 108 hospitals in the city who take care of covid patients.
Of these, 97 hospitals have pediatric facilities.
This hospital currently has 949 beds for pediatric patients, which include 391 ICU beds and 174 beds with ventilators.
Each team has been assigned between 20 and 30 hospitals for inspections, which will begin on Thursday.
The teams have been asked to check whether the number of beds, ICU and ventilators are available at the hospital strengthen the data that is being displayed in real-time in the covid portal dashboard.
“Inspections will be made at the hospital that has more than 50 beds.
The team has also been directed to conduct the right assessment of all Covid care centers dedicated and Covid Hospital,” said an official.
Although the level of infection is low and so does hospitalization, but the Ministry of Health aims to ensure that all hospitals are ready to handle the situation in the event of a surge.
During the second wave, the district was running out of a hospital bed and many Covid-19 patients had to live in their homes without proper care and it caused further conditions of their condition.
Thus, to avoid such a situation, the team will do inspections in all hospitals to ensure that they have adequate beds.
“Our team will also evaluate if the hospital can increase the number of beds in the third wave case.
The team, after inspection, can notify every hospital about how much they can stretch during the possibility of the third wave,” said Dr.
Virender Yadav, Chief Medical Officer , Gurgaon.
Anticipating that the number of Covid cases in the possibility of the third wave is likely to increase more than the first two waves, the Minister of Health Haryana Anil VIJ last month has directed all districts to increase their oxygen bed by 20% earliest.
