Patna: dressed in traditional sari and jewelry, women observed ‘Nirjala Vrat’ and pray for their husband’s longevity on the occasion of Hartalika Teej on Thursday.
They adorned themselves with ‘Solah Shringar’ and worshiped Lord Shiva and Dewi Parvati.
According to a priest, Bhola Pandey, Teej was mainly celebrated at Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on the third day of the first two weeks of Bhadra.
Women violate fasting the next day with ‘Paran’.
Pratima Devi, a resident of Shastri Nagar, told this newspaper, “I will get ready at night and offer items like ‘Alta’, Mehndi, Mirror, Comb, Vermilion, and ‘Bindi’ to God.” A married woman, Poonam Devi, who lives in Patliputra Colony, will do a Puja with her friends.
Women also prepared ‘Gujiyas’ and ‘Thekuas’ on that occasion.
Gol’s resident, Aarti Singh, said he had a different delicious cooking using ghee pure the day before fasting.
“I will distribute ‘Prasad’ among my neighbors, acquaintances, and family members,” he added.
Some women who work, who don’t have time to prepare ‘Gujiyas’ at home, buy it from various sweets in the city.
Sudha Kumari, a resident of Boring Road, was claimed, “making ‘Gujiyas’ is a busy task.
