New Delhi: More than three young crore people in the age group 15-18 have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine since India opened vaccination for this beneficiary category on January 3, the Ministry of Health Union Makukh Madaviya said on Thursday.
“A sense of responsibility & extraordinary enthusiasm among young India,” said Minister.
In a tweet, he said, “More than 3 children Crore between 15-18 age groups have received a dose of 1 vaccine # Covid19.
I appeal to all my young friends who qualified for the earliest vaccinations”.
According to the UNI Ministry of Health data, more than 26,73,385 preventive doses have been given to health workers, frontline workers and those aged 60 years and above with comorbidity.
With administration of more than 76 doses of lakh (76.32,024) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, Covid-19 Indian vaccination coverage has exceeded 154.61 crores according to the temporary report until 7 in the morning.
Countrywide vaccination drives launched on January 16 last year with health workers (HCWS) will be inoculated in the first phase.
Vaccination for frontline workers (FLW) starts from February 2 last year.
The next phase of Covid-19 vaccination starts from March 1 for people over 60 years and those aged 45 years and over with the condition of the specified co-morbid.
The country launched vaccination for everyone over 45 years from April 1.
The government then decided to expand its vaccination drive by allowing everyone above 18 to vaccinate from 1.
The next phase from January 3 to adolescents in the age group 15-18 years.
India began managing the dose of Covid-19 vaccine prevention measures for health workers, frontline workers including personnel were deployed for electoral assignments and those aged 60 years and above with comorbidity from January 10 amid a surge in coronavirus infection driven by the omicron virus
